July 6th, 2008July 4th Free Water & Shade at Community Field
July 4th, 2008
JULY 4, 2008 - Independence Day marked the 8th consecutive year of “free water and free shade” provided by the Church at the Crossroads at the Woodsville Community Field. Hundreds of cups of water, as well as iced tea, were served throughout the day.
Visitors to the annual celebrations at the community field made use of the tables and chairs under the rented tent to eat their food, or to simply take a rest from walking around in the warm sunshine.
Brendon Chadwick (pictured bottom right) and his wife Athene have headed up the Fourth of July Outreach every year after the first in 2001. Several church members and attendees helped throughout the day to ensure this year’s outreach was a success.
New Lighted Cross Dedicated
June 29th, 2008JUNE 29, 2008 - Pastor Geoff Bretches recently dedicated the Church at the Crossroads’s new cross in memory of Wayne H. Tyler, a member of the church who went home to be with the Lord last winter. His widow, Elizabeth Tyler, flew in to attend the dedication ceremony, and shared a few thoughts about Wayne, his life, and his love for the Lord. Many of Wayne’s friends and family also were in attendance.
The money for the construction of the cross had been previously donated by Wayne’s friends and family at his memorial service. Jim French of Piermont, also a member of the church, gave generously of his time and talents to build the 14-foot tall backlit cross.
